Vivaldi is a Web browser for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android. It was founded by the former CEO and co-founder of Opera Software. Introduced in 2016 and named after the Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi, Vivaldi later switched from its original Presto rendering engine to Chromium, allowing users to transition from Chrome and continue using their existing browser extensions (see Chromium).

Although it is based on Chromium, Vivaldi includes a slew of additional capabilities; for example, it offers the most customization choices of any browser. Favorite websites can be shared in a side window, and a guest profile with cookie and history deletion can be created. Vivaldi is a computer enthusiast’s “boutique” browser.

Vivaldi Features

PRIVATE BROWSING
It is entirely up to you what you do with your browser. We do not track how you use Vivaldi, and you can keep your browsing history secret using private incognito tabs. When you utilize private tabs, your searches, visited websites, cookies, and temporary files are not saved.

REAL TAB OPTION

To manage your tabs, you may either use a Tab Bar (which works well on larger displays and tablets) or a Tab Switcher. You can rapidly swipe through the Tab Switcher to locate open tabs, private tabs, and tabs you’ve recently closed in the browser or opened on another device.

BLOCK ADVERTISEMENTS & TRACKERS
No plugins required. A built-in AdBlocker disables adverts and prevents trackers from tracking you across the web. P.S. It also speeds up your browser.

FASTER ACCESS
Accelerate your browsing experience by adding your favorite bookmarks to Speed Dials on the new tab page. Sort them into folders, choose from a variety of layout options, and personalize it. Additionally, you can switch Search Engines on the fly by putting Search Engine Nicknames into Vivaldi’s Address Field (like “d” for DuckDuckGo or “w” for Wikipedia).

INTEGRATED TOOLS
Vivaldi includes built-in capabilities that help you get the most out of your apps and spend less time moving between them to accomplish tasks. Here is a sample:

  • Utilize Vivaldi Translate to obtain private translations of web pages (powered by Lingvanex).
  • Take notes as you browse and securely sync them across all of your devices.
  • Quickly capture and share screenshots of an entire page (or just the viewable area).
  • Scanning QR Codes allows for the sharing of links between devices.
  • Using Page Actions, you can modify the content of a webpage using filters.
