Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 was developed by Gearbox Software as a dramatic departure from the realistic tactical combat traditionally found in the Brothers in Arms franchise. The game introduces four over-the-top, comical protagonists on a mission to dispatch as many Nazis as possible using unconventional weaponry. After its initial E3 2011 reveal, negative fan and press reception regarding its divergence from the series identity led to it being stripped of the Brothers in Arms moniker. It was subsequently reworked before ultimately being cancelled, with its underlying elements eventually redirected into the development of Battleborn.
