Dr. Dennis Gross DRx SpectraLite FaceWare Pro vs Oral-B iO Series 9
Side-by-side comparison of features, pricing, ratings, and alternatives.
The DRx SpectraLite FaceWare Pro is Dr. Dennis Gross's LED face mask, and its defining characteristic is the treatment time: three minutes. That is short enough to fit into a routine every day, which matters because LED therapy depends entirely on consistency, and a twenty-minute session is the thing people stop doing after two weeks. It is FDA-cleared, which puts it in a different regulatory category from the many uncleared LED masks sold online. Dr. Dennis Gross lists it as best for acne and breakouts, fine lines and wrinkles, and redness, meaning it targets both the anti-ageing and the blemish use cases rather than one. The brand is a dermatologist-founded skincare line, and the FaceWare Pro sits in its devices and LED category alongside its peels, serums and treatments.
The Oral-B iO Series 9 pairs a magnetic, micro-vibrating brush head with linear magnetic drive technology for a smoother, gentler brushing motion compared to traditional oscillating-rotating brushes, while still delivering thorough plaque removal. A color-coded smart pressure sensor lights up green, yellow, or red on the handle to indicate ideal, acceptable, or excessive brushing pressure, helping prevent gum damage from brushing too hard. The companion app uses the phone camera during brushing to provide an AI-powered 3D mouth map showing which areas were missed or need more attention, turning brushing into a more guided, data-driven routine.

Decent but has rough edges
Oral-B iO Series 9 is solid overall, though it's not perfect. On the plus side, genuinely useful real-time pressure feedback. That said, app features require a smartphone, which held us back from rating it higher.
