How to Decide
Tony Hawk's Underground 2 is known for its global skate locations, custom tagging system and split‑screen multiplayer, and it is used by skateboarding fans. The alternatives split into a few clear camps: Tony Hawk's Proving Ground leans into a full‑featured video editor and on‑the‑fly terrain‑building mechanics; Tony Hawk's Underground is chosen for its story‑driven campaign and online multiplayer support.
When weighing these titles, focus on (1) the depth and type of customization each offers – tags and stickers in Underground 2 versus video editing and terrain creation in Proving Ground and story/skater customization in Underground; (2) the multiplayer scope – local split‑screen only in Underground 2 versus added online play in Underground and broader multiplayer integration in Proving Ground; (3) platform coverage – Underground 2 is limited to PC and PS2, Proving Ground runs on PS3/Xbox 360, while Underground spans PC and PS2; and (4) level design approach – pre‑built global locations in Underground 2 compared with on‑the‑fly terrain shaping in Proving Ground and narrative‑driven levels in Underground.
