Notability

Supernotes

Supernotes is a note-taking app built around individual notecards rather than long linear documents. Each card can hold rich content such as tables, equations, images, and checklists, and cards can be linked together and viewed as a 2D or 3D graph to visualize how ideas connect. The platform supports hierarchical organization with filters and search, real-time collaboration and commenting, and multi-device sync across web, desktop, and mobile apps. AI-powered assistance helps with tasks like typo detection and organizing ideas, and Supernotes is positioned for a broad range of users including students, developers, writers, researchers, and other professionals who think in small, connected chunks rather than long documents.

RemNote

RemNote combines note-taking, flashcard creation, PDF annotation, and AI-powered study tools into one app built around helping students retain what they learn, not just record it. Notes can be automatically or manually converted into flashcards, which are then reviewed using a spaced repetition algorithm that schedules reviews at optimal intervals for memory retention. Beyond flashcards, RemNote supports PDF and PowerPoint annotation, typed and handwritten notes, an AI tutor chat, and databases for organizing course material, positioning itself as a replacement for juggling separate tools like Quizlet, Anki, Notion, and Evernote.

MarginNote

MarginNote is a study and knowledge-management app for Mac and iPad, positioned as a place 'where deep reading leaves a trace.' It integrates PDF/EPUB annotation, mind mapping, and an FSRS-based spaced-repetition flashcard system so that highlights and notes automatically become study cards across multiple linked formats.

Goodnotes

Goodnotes is a digital note-taking app built around natural handwriting, letting users write, type, sketch, and annotate PDFs on a tablet, phone, or laptop. It syncs notebooks across devices and adds AI features such as summarization, semantic search, meeting transcription, and action-item extraction on top of the core writing experience.

Granola

Granola is an AI meeting notepad built for people who sit in back-to-back calls. Instead of sending a bot into your meetings, Granola runs quietly in the background, transcribes what's said on Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and other call apps, and turns your own rough notes into a polished, structured summary after the call ends. Because it works from system audio rather than a visible bot, meetings feel like a normal conversation. Granola adds calendar integration to auto-detect upcoming meetings, pre-meeting briefs pulled from prior notes, and an MCP connector so meeting notes can flow into tools like Claude and Cursor.

UpNote

UpNote is a note-taking application built for people who want a distraction-free space to capture and organize ideas across every device they own. It combines a Markdown-friendly rich text editor with nested notebooks, hashtags, and pinning so notes stay easy to find as a library grows, while a built-in web clipper and quick-capture tools make it simple to save content from anywhere. Notes sync automatically across Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android with full offline access, and features like version history, note locking, internal linking, and multiple export formats (PDF, HTML, Markdown, plain text) give it depth beyond a basic notes app. A generous free tier covers up to 50 notes, with a low-cost lifetime or monthly premium unlocking unlimited notes, attachments, and themes.
