How to Decide
Vectr is a browser‑based vector graphics editor that adds AI logo generation and background removal, and it’s primarily used by freelancers, students, and small businesses needing a free, instantly accessible design tool. The alternatives split into a few clear camps: Gravit Designer leans on cross‑platform availability with both web and native desktop apps plus extensive SVG and PDF export options; Vectary focuses on browser‑only 3D modeling, AR/VR viewing, and AI image‑to‑3D generation; CorelDRAW is a desktop‑only professional suite prized for its advanced typography controls and built‑in CAD tools for technical illustration.
When weighing Vectr against these options, consider (1) the deployment model – pure browser (Vectr, Vectary) versus native desktop (CorelDRAW, Gravit’s desktop app) which affects performance and offline access; (2) the depth of design capabilities – basic vector editing with AI aids (Vectr) versus expanded vector toolsets and export formats (Gravit) or full‑featured 3D/AR and CAD integration (Vectary, CorelDRAW); (3) pricing structure – freemium tiers with limited AI credits (Vectr, Gravit, Vectary) versus a subscription‑only model (CorelDRAW) that may justify higher cost for advanced features; and (4) collaboration features – real‑time multi‑user editing (Vectr) compared to link‑based commenting (Gravit) or team workspaces with project commenting (Vectary).
